“Many low-income families are simply surviving, holding their heads above water often at the same time paying off debts to keep their households afloat. See News section for up and coming Anti-Water Tax community meeting January 07.
It is the NI Anti-Poverty Network's opinion that water and sewerage are basic human needs and they should be provided free from the state. For those people existing on the edges of poverty the introduction of charges for water and sewerage will have significant repercussions.
In April 2007 the government have plans to make our water service into a Go-Co (a government-owned company). They say we have no choice but to pay… Communities Against the Water Tax say we have!! If you are interested in how you and your community can take action call the NIAPN office for further information or Communities Against the Water Tax, c/o Cliftonville Community Forum, 54 Manor Street, Belfast BT14 6EA Tel: 028 90 749147
