The Poverty Awareness Programme is being developed by NIAPN in partnership with Save the children, and receives funding from Big Lottery. The Poverty Awareness Programme is a community education project aimed at supporting people living in disadvantaged areas across Northern Ireland to explore poverty through participative exercises and activities. Delivered in a local community setting, the modules support participants to look at how poverty affects them and their communities and supports them to identify ways of working for change.
This education programme will be developed and delivered on a community outreach basis to young people and adults across Northern Ireland. We see participation in the training programme as a step on the path to more local level anti-poverty work delivering in a real way for communities right across Northern Ireland. The four core modules that are now available for training are: - Poverty and Its Causes
- Poverty and Policy
- Poverty and Gender
- Poverty and Children
